Last Night in College Basketball: It Took 3 OT, But Virginia Tech Upset Virginia
Malik Thomas - Scores 26 points in 3OT loss Thomas recorded 26 points (8-20 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 8-11 FT), four rebounds, one block and one steal over 29 minutes during Wednesday's 95-85 3OT loss to Virginia Tech.
Impact Thomas led the Cavaliers in scoring in this contest, even ahead of star freshman Thijs De Ridder, but he didn't contribute much in other categories. Don't be surprised if Thomas delivers most of his value in the coming games as a scoring weapon. He's scored in double digits in three of his last six games, and this 26-point output might be the spark he needs to get things back on track. It was also his best scoring output of the season.

Thijs De Ridder - Posts another double-double De Ridder chipped in 22 points (9-20 FG, 3-11 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 13 rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal over 45 minutes during Wednesday's 95-85 3OT loss to Virginia Tech.
Impact De Ridder was one of the most reliable offensive weapons for the Cavaliers in this triple-overtime loss, but that shouldn't be surprising, as the freshman has had this role all season long. This was De Ridder's second straight game with at least 20 points, and he's reached that mark in seven of his 13 appearances this season.

Amani Hansberry - Fills stat sheet admirably Hansberry registered 17 points (5-16 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 5-10 FT), 15 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals in 51 minutes during Wednesday's 95-85 3OT victory over Virginia.
Impact Hansberry didn't have his best shooting performance, as he needed 16 shots to score 17 points, but the big man still found a way to make a huge impact on both ends of the court. He racked up at least two tallies in each of the five major categories and is now averaging 17.3 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.0 blocks per game since the beginning of December.

Christian Gurdak - Monster performance Wednesday Gurdak had 17 points (7-10 FG, 3-7 FT), 19 rebounds and one assist over 46 minutes during Wednesday's 95-85 3OT win over Virginia.
Impact Gurdak was outstanding as a scorer, but he also did a good job of crashing the glass This resulted in him posting a career-best mark in rebounds while also matching his best output of the campaign in points. Gurdak seems to be trending in the right direction after scoring in double digits in his last three appearances, so it doesn't seem as if he'll be leaving the starting lineup any time soon.
