Much of that can be attributed to the usage of Dylan Harper, who saw significantly limited run due to an illness that had forced him to sit out the previous game as well. Acuff, a two-time transfer, should remain a role player moving forward at his first Power 5 school.

But according to Jerry Carino of The Asbury Park Press, the redshirt senior's previously fractured foot played a big part in his limited playing time against St. John's. He recently recovered and underwent only one week of team practices before participating in the exhibition. So while Acuff's three-minute log is concerning, limited playing time may not be a regular occurrence during Rutgers' 2024-25 season. But now, the question is how much of this campaign's early portion will include him.

But according to an earlier article by Fonseca, Acuff anticipates being ready for the 2024-25 Knights' first game, currently scheduled for Nov. 6 against Wagner. The article does not mention whether or not he will be ready by Oct. 17, when Rutgers and St. John's are expected to play each other in an exhibition.
