Bounces back against Louisville
Smith ended Wednesday's 79-63 win over Louisville with 24 points (9-13 FG, 6-9 3Pt), five rebounds, one assist and three steals over 30 minutes.
Impact
Smith was coming off an awful performance against Clemson since he scored two points while missing all seven of his field goals (0-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT) last Saturday, but he bounced back in this one and returned to his usual scoring ways. The freshman has been outstanding since moving back to the starting lineup, averaging 17.7 points per game across 10 starts.

Surpasses 20-point mark once again
Smith logged 23 points (8-15 FG, 7-13 3Pt), five rebounds, three assists and one steal in 31 minutes during Saturday's 83-81 loss to Florida State.
Impact
Smith has looked outstanding since moving into the starting five, reaching the 20-point mark in three of his last five appearances. In fact, Smith has made seven straight starts and has scored at least 14 points in each of those contests. He's averaging 19.1 points per tilt since transitioning into a starting role.

Dazzles with 27-point game
Smith closed Tuesday's 84-70 loss to Wright State with 27 points (12-25 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 0-2 FT), three rebounds, one assist and two steals over 34 minutes.
Impact
Smith has started each of the Wolfpack's last five games and has looked nothing short of impressive, scoring 15-plus points in four of those contests and emerging as one of the team's go-to players on offense. He seems to have done enough to remain a starter going forward.

Scores team-high 21 points
Smith produced 21 points (6-13 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 6-8 FT), three rebounds, two assists and two steals in 39 minutes during Sunday's 82-72 overtime loss to Purdue.
Impact
Smith has looked impressive while replacing Casey Morsell (ankle) in the starting lineup, but this was his best game of the season yet. He's scored in double digits in his three starts so far, but it's worth noting he's done that in six of his total 10 games, too. He's averaging 15.3 points per game in four appearances this month.

Solid all-around effort Thursday
Smith posted 14 points (5-12 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal over 36 minutes during Thursday's 65-48 win over Bethune-Cookman.
Impact
Smith has started each of NC State's last two games due to Casey Morsell's ankle injury and has responded well, with double-digit scoring figures in each of those contests. His place in the starting five will depend on Morsell's injury, but he has benefited from the extended role and minutes thus far.

Scores 17 in first start
Smith closed with 17 points (7-11 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 0-1 FT), three rebounds, one block and two steals across 34 minutes during Saturday's 73-68 loss to Louisville.
Impact
Smith stepped into the starting lineup for an injured Casey Morsell, who was later reported to be dealing with an ankle injury. The move resulted in Smith's highest minutes total of a season among games that ended in regulation, as well as his most points since he scored 20 on Bucknell in the season opener. Whether as a starter or sixth man, the four-star freshman is getting more than enough minutes to offer consistent production and should be a big part of the team's future plans.

Joins starting five
Smith will make his first career start Saturday versus Louisville.
Impact
Smith has cooled off a bit from his hot scoring start but nearly posted a double-double in the last game versus Nebraska, posting nine points and 11 boards in a game that went into a fourth overtime. Smith joins the starting five with Casey Morsell (ankle) sidelined, so he's likely just temporarily filling in.

Another double-digit scoring effort
Smith posted 11 points (4-11 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 0-1 FT), three rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal in 24 minutes during Tuesday's 79-65 win over Central Connecticut State.
Impact
Smith has been forced to play off the bench at the beginning of the season but that hasn't been a problem for the freshman, who has scored in double digits in each of his first three outings of the campaign.

Shines off bench Tuesday
Smith posted 20 points (9-17 FG, 2-5 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist and four steals over 31 minutes during Tuesday's 88-70 win over Bucknell.
Impact
Smith was one of two NC State players that played over 30 minutes in this huge win, and he made the most of his time on the court despite the fact that he came off the bench. The loss of Manny Bates, who played just one minute due to a shoulder injury, might open up the door for more playing time in the short-term future for Smith.
