J.J. Starling - Game-time decision Saturday
Starling (leg) is a game-time decision for Saturday's contest at Drexel, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact
Starling, who suffered a leg injury early in the season opener, will have his status for Saturday decided shortly before tipoff. J.J. Starling - Status in question Saturday
Starling (lower body) is questionable to play in Saturday's contest against Drexel, per Aiden Stepansky of DailyOrange.com.
Impact
Starling previously missed Syracuse's matchup against Delaware State last week due to a lower body injury, and it seems he could be held out once again Saturday. The 6-foot-4 guard played just three minutes in the Orange's season opener against Binghamton before going down with the injury. Following a season in which he averaged 17.8 points per game for the Orange last year, Starling was expected to be a superstar in upstate New York this season. He will hope to make his return Saturday, though if he is unable to go, his next chance will come against Monmouth on Tuesday.

Freeman chipped in 20 points (7-11 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 6-8 FT), six rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal over 25 minutes during Monday's 85-47 victory over Binghamton.

Aside from delivering a strong shooting performance, Freeman also did a good job filling out the rest of the stat sheet and recorded at least one tally in each of the five major categories. Freeman averaged 13.4 points and 7.9 rebounds per game through 14 contests before sustaining a season-ending injury in 2024-25, and it seems he's aiming to pick things right where he left them off last season.
