Impact Smith saw a brief stint in the starting lineup, but considering St. John's has used a unique starting five in each of its past four games, it's not too surprising to see that it didn't last. With the team seemingly healthy, Smith will likely resume a reserve role in this week's Big East tournament.

Despite going 0-for-5 from three this was the Canadian guard's best performance since a 88-83 win over Monmouth on Dec. 3, when he recorded 13 points and three rebounds.

Impact Smith started the first seven games of the season for the Red Storm and was averaging 20.3 mpg leading up to Wednesday, but he ultimately didn't get off the bench in what amounted to a five-point victory. It's unknown if Smith was one of the positive tests that caused the program to shut down following it's Dec. 18 loss to Pittsburgh, but if that were the case, it would make sense for a player in his circumstances to sit due to conditioning issues despite gaining clearance. While the whole situation is a bit of a mystery for now, more clarity should arrive Saturday when St. John's takes on Providence.

In addition to all of the passing success, the senior had his best night shooting since transferring. He will look to stoke the embers of this performance into a flame against the Highlanders on Saturday.
