Last Night in College Basketball: UCLA Upsets No. 4 Purdue in Big Ten Shocker

Tajuan Simpkins - Scores 14 at St. John's Simpkins finished with 14 points (5-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-4 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one steal over 32 minutes during Tuesday's 65-60 loss to St. John's.

Impact After scoring just three total points over his last two contests, Simpkins bounced back with 14 points in Tuesday's loss. He was not particularly efficient from the field, although he did hit two of his five attempts from beyond the arc. He added four rebounds and one assist in his season-high 32 minutes off the bench.

AJ Staton-McCray - Scores 16 Tuesday Staton-McCray ended Tuesday's 65-60 loss to St. John's with 16 points (7-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt), five rebounds, one assist and two steals in 34 minutes.

Impact Staton-McCray led the Pirates with 16 points Tuesday as he shot over 50 percent from the field for the first time since Dec. 13. He sunk two three-pointers and added one assist on the offensive end. On the defensive side he recorded two steals for the 10th time this season, bringing his average up to 1.6 through 19 games this campaign.

Impact Payne recorded his fourth double-double of the season Tuesday, three of which have come during Big east play. He recorded eight offensive rebounds, his second most in a game this season, and recorded 15 total rebounds for the third time this season. He also blocked a season-high four shots in the close loss. He's now averaging 7.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game this season but has proven to be very inconsistent game-to-game.

He also failed to record an assist for just the second time this season. Still, it was his first game scoring in double figures since Dec. 3 and doing that versus the No. 3 team in the country is no small feat.
