Seth Trimble - College Basketball News & Rumors

Ruled ineligible for 2026-27 Trimble has been ruled ineligible for the 2026-27 season after the NCAA won its court case in Kentucky, per Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

Impact Trimble was one of Louisville's biggest acquisitions this season. The guard averaged 14.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists last season at North Carolina, and he was poised to start at the two guard spot for the Cardinals. With the season still a month out, there's still time for Trimble to regain his eligibility, but this is a huge development -- and potential loss -- for Louisville.

Commits to Louisville Trimble has committed to Louisville for the 2026-27 season, Pete Thamel of ESPN reports.

Impact Trimble is the latest player to try to take advantage of the recent court rulings allowing class of 2022 high schoolers a fifth season of eligibility. Trimble wanted to return to UNC, but the Tar Heels had already constructed their roster and were out of scholarships for the coming season. He most recently played in five Summer League games for the Washington Wizards where he averaged 10.8 PPG. Trimble did not sign an NBA contract, so the window to return to college was open. Should the injunction hold up and Trimble is eligible for the 2026-27 for Louisville, that gives the Cardinals another dynamic guard in the backcourt alongside Jackson Shelstad. Louisville would be much closer in the ACC race next season with teams like Duke and Virginia.
