Moustapha Thiam - College Basketball News & Rumors

Starting in exhibition game Thiam (lower leg) is starting in Sunday's exhibition game against Eastern Michigan, according to Anthony Broome of On3.

Impact Ideally for Thiam, Michigan's upcoming exhibition will not go like his last one. He suffered a lower-leg injury, which limited his availability for a month before Sunday's preseason game. At his peak powers, Thiam is expected to be a top player in the Michigan rotation after a 2025-26 season with 12.8 points and 7.1 rebounds for fellow Power Conference team Cincinnati. Sunday may provide a preview of how the Wolverines look to use him moving forward.

Still dealing with lower leg injury Thiam (lower leg) will not play against Mega SUPERBET Thursday, according to Clayton Sayfie of On3.com.

Impact Based on the roster shown on the scoreboard during the game, Thiam will not take the court for the Wolverines once again. The Michigan center has been dealing with a minor lower-leg injury that forced him to leave early during a previous scrimmage. The injury was announced as minor, so it's probable that the team is taking precautions and making sure he is at full health for the upcoming season.

Injury considered minor Thiam has a lower-leg injury, but it is considered minor, according to Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press.

Impact Thiam left Michigan's weekend scrimmage on Sunday with an injury caused when Elliot Cadeau unintentionally rolled up on the former's lower right leg, which appeared to hyperextend. Thiam went down in pain for a few moments before he was helped off the floor by UM's head coach Mike Boynton Jr. and a trainer. The Detroit Free Press got an update on Thiam, and it was a positive one. "Moustapha is fine," the Free Press was told. "Nothing serious." So while Thiam would sit out Michigan's following scrimmage, his absence would serve as a precautionary measure that the Wolverines will look to fully cooperate with, especially now that their regular season is barely over a few months away.

Impact Thiam suffered the injury early in the game against Lithuania and was unable to return to the contest, though the nature and severity of the injury remain unclear. Until more detail emerges, his status should be viewed as uncertain.

Impact Thiam did everything he could to lead the Bearcats to a much-needed win, dominating the paint against his former school with season highs in rebounds and redirected shots. The sophomore big man also went a season-best 3-for-4 from beyond the arc as he collected his fifth double double in the last eight games. Despite the performance, the Bearcats fell and in all likelihood will just miss out on the NCAA tournament, meaning Thiam's next game will likely come in either the NIT or the College Basketball Crown.

Thiam was coming off a relatively down performance of eight points and five boards in his last outing but has otherwise been playing his best basketball of the season in recent weeks. Late-season surge Thiam accumulated 21 points (7-19 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 6-7 FT), 10 rebounds and one block over 36 minutes during Tuesday's 80-68 loss to Texas Tech.

Impact Thiam continued his late-season surge, posting his fourth double double of the season and second in three games. The sophomore big man is beginning to take on a larger scoring role for the Bearcats in recent games, attempting 13 or more shots six times in his last eight games played after having taken 10 or more shots in just five previous contests. That increased shot total has led to Thiam nearly doubling his scoring output over the past four games, averaging 19.8 points during that stretch after having produced 10.8 points in 22 games prior.
