Impact There had been a handful of unsubstantiated rumors about Carr's status with the program during the week, but he seemingly put some of those concerns to bed with a season-high scoring total. Expectations still need to be tempered for the fourth-year senior now that he isn't the focal point of the offense, but he showed Saturday that he's capable of leading the charge when given the opportunity.

Impact Carr returned to the starting five after coming off the bench in favor of Devin Askew in each of the last two contests. The prized Minnesota transfer is clearly struggled to fit in with new coach Chris Beard and an incredibly deep Longhorns roster. Carr will look to find something as we start to get into Big 12 play to take Texas to the next level.

Carr averaged 19.4 points per game last season at Minnesota, and while this Texas team is much better with more mouths to feed, the senior is simply too talented to be averaging just 8.5 points per game.

Impact Carr slid right in as the primary ball handler and distributor for his new team after coming over in the offseason from Minnesota. Texas was very balanced scoring-wise against a much weaker team, but expect the rotation to be cut down for Saturday's game against Gonzaga.

Impact After committing to Texas back in July, Carr was cleared by the NCAA on Wednesday and is set to take over as the Longhorns' starting point guard in 2021. Carr averaged 19.4 points, 4.9 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals over 35.8 minutes per game last season at Minnesota and should have a good opportunity to improve his draft stock if he maintains that kind of output with his new team.
