Chansey Willis Jr. - Starting in regular-season opener Willis (ankle) is part of the Golden Flashes' starting lineup for their regular-season opener Monday at Louisiana Tech.
Impact Kent's basketball program may have a sneakily good addition in its hands with Willis, who has started all 31 of his other games for either Western Michigan or Minnesota. Last season with the Gophers, he was formidable when healthy, especially on defense. Willis averaged 6.3 points, 3.3 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.4 steals. The problem, as with Western Michigan, was Willis' health. But, as long as that part of his profile holds up, he can be a golden option for the Golden Flashes.
