Has worst performance of the season Champagnie posted 12 points (2-9 FG, 1-4 3PT, 7-10 FT), six rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocks in 33 minutes during the 74-70 win over Connecticut on Monday.
Impact Champagnie was below average in the win Monday. The forward had his worst shooting night of the season going 23 percent from the floor. He did still grab six, but it was not enough to make up for his lackluster performance everywhere else. He is typically a much better producer for the Red Storm and should look to bounce back quickly.

Impactful in return Champagnie had 24 points (9-18 FG, 6-7 FT), 16 rebounds and two blocks across 34 minutes in Saturday's 96-76 victory over Syracuse.
Impact Champagnie was initially given a 6-to-8 week timetable to recover from a knee injury, but the sophomore forward effectively missed only two games. Not only that, but he started and looked every bit the player who recorded back-to-back 20-20 games in early-December. Pittsburgh is now off to a 3-1 start in conference play, and the return of Champagnie arguably makes them a dark horse contender.

Starting Saturday Champagnie (knee) will start Saturday against Syracuse.
Impact After missing just two games due to a knee injury, Champagnie will return to the starting lineup Saturday. William Jeffress will head to the bench as a result. It's unclear how many minutes Champagnie will see in his first game back, though his starting designation suggests he and the coaching staff have confidence in his knee. Through six games this season, the sophomore is averaging 17.8 points, 12.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 blocks over 32.5 minutes per game.

Expected to play Champagnie (knee) is expected to play Saturday against Syracuse after he was seen going through warmups with the team, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact This news comes as a major surprise as Champagnie was expected to be out for at least another two weeks. The 6-6 sophomore injured himself in practice back on Dec. 22 and was given a 6-8 week timeline to return to the court. Champagnie has healed a lot quicker than people anticipated and the Panthers have a real chance at getting their best player back on the court after missing two games. Pittsburgh narrowly beat Syracuse 63-60 on Jan. 6 but Champagnie (17.8 points and 12.3 rebounds per game) could be the difference-maker that'll help his team cruise to a much easier victory in Saturday's matchup.

Warming up Saturday Champagnie (knee) was seen partaking in warmups ahead of Saturday's tip-off against Syracuse, Alan Saunders of Pittsburgh Sports Now reports.
Impact Champagnie was not expected to play Saturday after he was given a 6-8 week timeline to recover from his knee injury on Dec. 22. Going through warmups may just be part of his progression as he makes his way towards an eventual return although it remains to be seen what his official status will be as game time approaches near.

Tracking toward quicker return Pittsburgh head coach Jeff Capel said Monday that Champagnie (knee) is on track to return before the 6-to-8 weeks he was initially projected to miss after suffering a lateral colla...
Impact Based on Capel's comments, Champagnie seems to be making ample progress in his recovery, potentially leaving a return in late January or early February on the table for the big man. Prior to getting hurt, Champagnie led the team in scoring (17.8 points per game) and rebounding (12.3 per game), so if he can make it back before the end of the regular season, his addition would give the Panthers a big boost heading into the ACC tournament. Currently sitting at 6-2 overall with a 2-1 record in conference play, Pittsburgh remains in the mix for a spot in the NCAA tournament.
JANUARY 11, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Sets season-high in points Champagnie recorded 33 points (13-21 FG, 4-7 3PT, 3-4 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists, three steals and two blocks in 33 minutes in the 97-79 loss to Creighton on Saturday.
Impact Champganie was the sole effort in the loss Saturday. The forward led the Red Storm in all facets of scoring and was the only reason they were as close to Creighton as they were at the final seconds. Champagnie has shown that he can produce and consistently at that. Until he drops form, he is very viable and one of the main targets for St. John.

Saturday's game postponed Saturday's game between St. John's and DePaul has been postponed due to COVID-19 related reasons, according to Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress.
Impact The game was suspended due to a COVID-19 positive case within the St. John's program. The team's next scheduled game is on Jan. 6 at Xavier, though it remains to be seen whether they'll able to take the court given the potential COVID-19 outbreak.
