Remaining in NBA Draft Furphy has confirmed he will remain in the NBA Draft process, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.

Impact Furphy has decided he will be staying put for the NBA Draft and expects to hear his name called in the upcoming draft. The 6-foot-9 forward averaged nine points, 4.9 rebounds and one assist on 24.1 minutes across 33 games (19 starts) as a freshman during the 2023-24 campaign.

Impact Furphy scored 14 of his 17 in the first half while going a perfect 5-for-5 from the field including draining a couple of threes as Kansas jumped out to a big lead over the fourth-ranked team in the country. He continues to see major minutes since entering the starting lineup seven games ago, playing north of 30 minutes for the sixth consecutive game. The freshman wing has provided a major offensive spark over that stretch, providing double-figure point totals in his last six games with 15-plus points in four of those starts. First career double-double Furphy supplied 23 points (7-8 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 6-9 FT), 11 rebounds and two steals across 36 minutes during Monday's 74-69 win over Cincinnati.

Impact Furphy led the Jayhawks in scoring, combining with the rest of the starters to score 72 of the team's 74 points on the night. The talented freshman has started the last four games, improving in each and culminating with the first double-double of his career Monday. Perhaps more importantly, on a night Hunter Dickinson struggled with foul trouble, Furphy showed that he has the capability to step up and fill the void. Prior to three games ago, Furphy had not played more than 20 minutes. However over the last three, he's averaging 33.3 minutes per contest with 17.0 points and 8.3 rebounds on 61.5% shooting from the field, which includes three treys per game at a 52.9% clip.

The 33 minutes played topped his previous best by 13 minutes while the seven boards represented a high-water mark for the talented freshman, who also chipped in a couple of blocks on the defensive end. In just two games in the starting role, Furphy is now averaging 11.0 points and 5.0 boards,. While the Kansas starting five is loaded, limiting his upside, Furphy's new role is likely to continue moving forward, making him a sneaky fantasy option as opposing defenses spend so much of their resources defending the other Kansas stars.
