Impact Schutt was one of two Hokies who scored in double digits in this game, with Tobi Lawal (17 points, 13 rebounds) being the other. Schutt has scored in double digits in nine of his 21 appearances this season, and while the lack of consistency has been an issue, he seems to be trending in the right direction of late.

Impact Schutt is not having a solid start to the season, mainly from an accuracy and efficiency perspective. Schutt has scored more than 10 points in just one of his five appearances, but even more complicated is the fact that he's only shooting 41 percent from the field in that span.

Impact Schutt led the Hokies in scoring Monday. Even though Virginia Tech had to work harder than expected to get past Winthrop, Schutt's contributions were key to give the team a much-needed win. The sophomore has seen his scoring numbers rise with each passing game and is averaging 12.0 points per game in his first three outings this season.
