GAME LOG

Won't play Saturday Aimaq (foot) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against LSU, Jeff Goodman of Stadium reports.
Impact Aimaq aggravated the foot injury that caused him to miss the first two months of the season ahead of Wednesday's matchup against West Virginia and will miss a second straight contest. Daniel Batcho, who started for Aimaq to begin the year, will likely be reinserted into the starting lineup.

Not warming up Wednesday Aimaq (foot) was spotted with a walking boot on his left foot Wednesday ahead of Texas Tech's clash with West Virginia, Carlos Silva Jr. of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports.
Impact Aimaq finally made his return to the Red Raiders lineup in mid January after missing the entire start of the season with a foot injury. It appears that foot has flared back up and Aimaq not play against the Mountaineers. In the three games Aimaq has played, he's logged 10 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists across 24.3 minutes.

Nears double-double in first start Aimaq finished with 12 points (5-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-3 FT), nine rebounds and one assist across 24 minutes during Tuesday's 81-74 loss to Baylor.
Impact Aimaq logged his first start with the Red Raiders after coming off the bench during his season debut Saturday versus Texas. The 6-foot-11 senior still finished last among Texas Tech's starting rotation in minutes, as he appeared to split playing time with previous starting center Daniel Batcho (22). However, Aimaq pulled down the team's second-most rebounds behind starting 6-foot-7 wing Jaylon Tyson (12). Aimaq averaged 15.0 and 13.6 rebounds per game over his last two seasons during his previous two seasons with Utah Valley State, and he has now put up a combined 20 field-goal attempts across two contests with Texas Tech. So long as Aimaq continues to play over 20 minutes per game, he could emerge as one of the team's most productive all-around players.

Starting Tuesday Aimaq is in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against Baylor.
Impact Aimaq will be making his starting debut for the team. As a result, Daniel Batcho will play a reserve role. It is unclear if this is a matchup based decision for Texas Tech or a move they could stick with going forward.
JANUARY 17, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Logs 12 points as backup Aimaq logged 12 points (5-12 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds and two assists across 29 minutes during the Red Raiders' 72-70 loss Saturday at Texas.
Impact Saturday indicated Aimaq has no problems attempting field goals and scoring points despite not playing multiple games since March. He is expected to be part of the Red Raiders' starting lineup again sooner than later. Before transferring from Utah Valley, Aimaq averaged 18.9 points during his junior year. That rate does not warrant him being a backup.

Probable vs. Texas Tech Aimaq (foot) is probable before the Red Raiders host Texas on Saturday, according to Carlos Silva Jr. of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
Impact There is a good chance that when Texas Tech's head coach Mark Adams said Aimaq would be "playing in the next couple of games," he included the upcoming matchup. After a litany of transfer rumors and confusion surrounding his injury, those could all be put to bed when he likely plays and receives limited minutes against Texas on Saturday.
JANUARY 14, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Return timetable updated Aimaq (foot) is hopefully "playing in the next couple of games" according to head coach Mark Adams, Carlos Silva Jr. of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports.
Impact Aimaq was expected to be a major contributor to Texas Tech as one of the top center transfers in the country after averaging a double-double with Utah Valley State a season ago. His season hit a major roadblock before it even began, however, as a foot injury has prevented him for suiting up for a single contest. He then had to shut down a whirlwind of transfer rumors, but now it finally appears as if he's nearing a return. The Red Raiders need it badly after getting blown out by Iowa State on Tuesday to fall to 0-4 in Big 12 play. Rebounding has been one of the main issues, as Texas Tech is in the conference's bottom-3 with respect to defensive rebounding rate -- an issue the 6-11 center's return would immediately address.

Shuts down transfer rumors Aimaq (foot) announced Friday via his personal Twitter account "the only facts are I'm a red raider and will do whatever I can to be back on the court ASAP," following the recent t...
Impact It was previously noted that Aimaq could potentially transfer again and play his collegiate ball elsewhere, as he's been unable to take the court this season due to the broken foot he sustained back in September. The 6-foot-11 center has since publicized his commitment to Texas Tech's program through a social media post, and it still sounds like he'll aim for a late-December return.
DECEMBER 16, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Expected to transfer Aimaq (foot) is expected to transfer from Texas Tech, Jeff Goodman of Stadium reports.
Impact Surprisingly, Aimaq could transfer again despite committing to the 2022-23 Red Raiders' season since April this year. He has sat out all of their games played until now. Despite his injured foot's protective cast being removed Monday, the improved status will not prevent him from attempting to transfer again. Aimaq averaged 16.9 points and 14.2 rebounds across two seasons he participated in while part of Utah Valley. When healthy, the senior will be a promising option to any team.
DECEMBER 14, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Evaluation on foot upcoming Head coach Mark Adams said Friday that Aimaq (foot) will be re-evaluated next week, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact Aimaq has been sidelined all season due to the broken foot he suffered back in September, but as previously noted, he's anticipated to return sometime in mid-December. The 6-foot-11 center averaged 18.9 points and 13.6 rebounds per game a year ago, and his return would likely result in decreased minutes for Daniel Batcho, Kevin Obanor and KJ Allen.
DECEMBER 9, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Given clearer timetable Aimaq (foot) is wearing a cast to be removed during early December and will try being available before the Red Raiders' conference games begin, Austin Massey of 247Sports reports.
Impact Unlike previously, Aimaq will try to be healthy before the Red Raiders begin their Big 12 season Dec. 31 versus TCU. The return date remains provisional though. Unsurprisingly, Daniel Batcho was selected to be the Red Raiders' starting center before participating in their game Monday.

Will be back for start of Big 12 play Coach Mark Adams said that Aimaq (foot) will be back for the start of Big 12 play "at the latest," Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact This is excellent news and certainly a much shorter recovery timeline that what was originally thought when he suffered the broken foot last month. Texas Tech begins the regular season on Dec. 31 against TCU, which suggests that a mid-December return could be possible for the former Utah Valley standout. Daniel Batcho will control the paint to begin the season, but Aimaq should take over as the starter as soon as he's ready to go.
