Impact Carton once again led the crusade for the Golden Eagles in the close win to the lowly Blue Demons on Tuesday. Carton has been streaky over his past few appearances and is averaging 11.75 points, 5.25 rebounds and 3.25 assists through 30.25 minutes. Even in this time of ups and downs, he is still one of the most efficient shooters for Marquette as well. If you are needing consistency, Carton is not it. Otherwise, when in form he covers multiple categories.

Impact After leaving the prior match with a lower-leg injury, Carton put together a similar stat-line in the win Saturday. The guard has been rather consistent with his overall production this season and has been a great versatile player for Marquette. Carton also saw a season-high 35 minutes in the win and has gotten a slight pump in his minutes through the past few matches. As long as he can continue to produce like this, he is a viable option for an average Marquette squad.

Returns to finish game Carton returned to finish Tuesday's game against Providence after leaving with a lower leg contusion, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

Impact Carton left Tuesday's game early in the second half but he returned soon thereafter. He finished the game with 13 points (3-9 FG, 6-7 FT, 1-6 3Pt), four assists, two rebounds and one steal over 31 minutes en route to a 79-69 victory over Providence. Considering Carton was able to quickly shake off the injury, it appears he'll be a full go for Saturday's game against St. John's. Through 13 games, the sophomore is averaging 11.2 points on 40.3 percent shooting along with 3.8 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals over 28.7 minutes per game.

Impact Carton came off the bench for the first two games of the season, but in four games since stepping into the starting lineup Dec. 4, he's averaged 14.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals. The recent boost in playing time has been due largely to the absence of Symir Torrence, who is sidelined indefinitely due to a toe injury. Nonetheless, Carton has done so well in the role that his playing time may not take much of a hit at all once Torrence is back in the fold.
