NCAA denies eligibility Marial will not play for the Beavers this season after the NCAA denied his eligibility appeal, Nick Daschel of the Oregonian reports. Impact Marial has been present with the team for much of the season after electing to transfer to Oregon State back in April, but issues with the progress towards his degree at Maryland caused him to be ineligible to begin the 2021-22 campaign. Despite the denied appeal, coach Wayne Tinkle has commended his efforts as a student while in Corvallis and fully expects the 7-2 center to be eligible when the 2022-23 season arrives. While Marial saw very inconsistent playing time during his time with the Terps, minutes should open up for him next season following the presumed departure of senior and JUCO transfer Roman Silva. Meanwhile, the Beavers will have to make due with Silva and Maurice Calloo at center, as Rodrique Andela is in the midst of a multi-month absence due to a foot injury.
