Impact Newman came off the bench to pace the way offensively for Oklahoma State, scoring 12 points during Monday's loss. He was one of only two players to reach double figures as the vaunted Houston defense held the Cowboys to just 47 points. It was the fourth time this season the senior reserve guard has topped 10 points.

Newman started 30 out of 88 games through three seasons with Purdue prior to transferring to Western Kentucky, where he started all 34 games, averaging 10.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals across 25.6 minutes. He posted a career-high 29 points as a freshman with Purdue in 2020 and is capable of putting up a few random big performances off the bench this season for the Cowboys.
