Braeden Carrington - College Basketball News & Rumors

Warming up Saturday Carrington (undisclosed) is warming up ahead of Saturday's exhibition game against UW-Parkside, John Steppe of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Impact Carrington, who underwent offseason surgery, appears to be available for Saturday's outing against the Rangers. The 6-foot-5 senior, who is currently eligible for the 2026-27 season, averaged 8.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists across 34 games off the bench last season (18.1 minutes per game).

Undergoes surgery while in eligibility limbo Carrington (undisclosed) underwent offseason surgery as he awaits his eligibility fate for the 2026-27 season, per John.

Impact All signs have pointed to Carrington being eligible for the Badgers this season, although with the season less than a month out, we still don't know for sure if he's going to be able to suit up in the Kohl Center. He also underwent surgery this offseason, although it's not expected to limit him should he be allowed to suit up for Wisconsin. Getting Carrington back would be huge for head coach Greg Gard and his squad, as he was the Badgers' best three-point shooter last year, knocking down 40.1 percent of his threes on 5.1 attempts per game.

Impact Carrington was coming off a 32-point explosion in the Saturday win over Washington. He has hit 13 3-pointers in his last two games and his combined 50 points are his best pair of games on the season. The 6-5 senior is hitting 42.8 percent of his 3-pointers and averaging 8.6 points. The Badgers close the season at Purdue. Carrington had six points in nine minutes in the Jan. 3 loss to the Boilermakers.

Career day in Seattle Carrington closed Saturday's 90-73 victory over Washington with 32 points (9-17 FG, 9-15 3Pt, 5-5 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one steal over 28 minutes.

Impact Carrington's game log can be a bit volatile depending on whether the early three-pointers are falling, but he established a clear ceiling in this one. While a few admittedly came late with the game well in hand, Carrington rode his hot shooting to career-highs in scoring and 3PM. Simply put, he's an X-factor for a Wisconsin team that is undefeated when it scores 80 or more points.

Hits clutch free throws in win Carrington registered eight points (2-5 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and four rebounds in 21 minutes during Tuesday's 92-90 OT win over Illinois.

Impact Carrington's emergence, which can be traced back to the start of the new calendar year, has completely changed the complexion of this team. The senior guard is shooting 40.5 percent from the field and 40.4 percent from distance (on 4.3 triples attempted per game), both of which are career-highs. He's had a few big nights, like his 21-point outing at Minnesota on Jan. 13, his personal revenge game, but he's mainly provided a steady presence in the backcourt. In the huge win over Illinois, he hit two crucial free throws in overtime to help ice the game for the Badgers. His stats won't wow you, but make no mistake -- Carrington has been crucial for Wisconsin's strong showing in Big Ten play thus far.

John Blackwell's Game-Winner Lifts Wisconsin Over Minnesota

X-factor in upset Carrington accumulated 12 points (1-4 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 9-12 FT), nine rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal across 27 minutes during Saturday's 91-88 victory over Michigan.

Impact Carrington stepped up in a huge way here, as Austin Rapp (undisclosed) was sidelined and Andrew Rohde found himself in foul trouble, which led to the Badgers needing significantly more run from the senior transfer from Tulsa. Not only did Carrington see more minutes than in any other game this season, but he scored his most points since Nov. 21 and shattered his season-best rebounding total. He was also notably 9-for-12 from the charity stripe after attempting only one free-throw in his previous five games combined. It would be easy to write this production off as fluke circumstances, but Carrington at least showed he can answer the bell when called upon in high-stakes scenarios.

Providing spark off the bench Carrington amassed six points (2-5 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 0-1 FT), one rebound and two assists over 14 minutes during Monday's 94-69 win over SIUE.

Impact Wisconsin has gotten much of its production from its starting five this season. That checks out, as this could be the strongest top group we've seen in Madison in years. Still, the Badgers need production off the bench, and Carrington is leading that charge, at least in the back court. The Tulsa transfer hit another two triples as Wisconsin moved to 4-0 with a win over SIUE on Monday; Carrington can do a little of everything, and that's huge in helping him stay on the court.
