College Basketball 2025-2026 Buzz: Big East Commissioner Ackerman to Retire
Running it back with Bulldogs Huff (kneecap) will return to Gonzaga for the 2026-27 season, Theo Lawson of The Spokane Spokesman-Review reports.
Impact Huff will decide to play out his senior season with the Zags after recording a breakout junior campaign prior to a kneecap injury. The 6-foot-10 forward averaged 17.8 points and 5.6 rebounds across 18 starts before going out with his ailment. He will hopefully be good to go come tipoff of Gonzaga's 2026-27 opener.

Gonzaga is back in the NCAA Tournament and still looking for a title breakthrough
MARCH 18 • Associated Press
Out for first two rounds Huff (kneecap) is out for the Round of 64 and the Round of 32, per Theo Lawson of The Spokane Spokesman-Review.
Impact Huff, who is dealing with a dislocated kneecap and has missed the last 15 games for the Zags, won't be able to return unless Gonzaga makes it to the Sweet 16, as he's out for the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament and consequently, the Rounds of 64 and 32. He's reportedly jogging and shooting, however, and has a shot to return if the Zags make a deep tournament run.
MARCH 16 • ROTOWIRE
Likely to miss at least 10 days Huff (knee) is now jogging and shooting, but he is doubtful to return for the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact Huff, who has missed the last 15 games due to a knee injury, is making some promising progress with his injury, but he's still set to miss more time. Head coach Mark Few said that Huff will likely miss the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament, which means the team would have to advance to at least the Sweet 16 for Huff to return. If the Bulldogs can advance that far without Huff, adding him back at that point would be massive as he's averaging 17.8 points and 5.6 rebounds through 18 games this season.
MARCH 12 • ROTOWIRE
No longer using crutches Huff (knee) was spotted ahead of Monday's game against Oregon State without crutches, Jim Meehan of The Spokane Spokesman-Review reports.
Impact Huff has been out since Jan. 15 because of a knee injury, but it looks like the junior forward's hope of returning in time for the NCAA Tournament is feasible. It's uncertain exactly where he is in his recovery, but he's just over seven weeks into the eight-week return timeline.
MARCH 9 • ROTOWIRE
Injury update Huff (knee) continues to work through a long-term knee injury that will sideline him until the NCAA Tournament, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact Huff, who hasn't played since Jan. 8, is five weeks into his projected eight-week recovery timeline with the 6-foot-10 junior "just getting ready to be off crutches and walking in a few days" according to head coach Mark Few. Huff was a driving force behind Gonzaga's early-season success averaging 17.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists across 18 starts. The team is still hopeful to have their starting center back for the NCAA Tournament, but it will likely be an uphill battle for Huff to be in top-form just four short weeks from now.
FEBRUARY 20 • ROTOWIRE
Out until NCAA tournament Huff (knee) is out until the 2026 NCAA tournament, according to Theo Lawson of Spokesman.com.
Impact Gonzaga's head coach Mark Few announced that for Huff to physically recover, his injured knee requires at least four weeks. "We (the team's decision-makers) said four to eight weeks, it'll be at least eight," its HC recently said. As of Sunday, the 2026 West Coast Conference tournament final is two days before when Huff can become available. For his 2025-26 season's WCC games, he averaged 14.4 points and 6.4 rebounds. Yet, the 2026 NCAA tournament can include Huff. "We'll get him off crutches here in a little while. As that progresses, we'll see how it's going. He's a long ways away from getting back, but hopefully. Who knows," Few said.

Impact Huff's injury news is devastating for the Zags, as he leads them in scoring with 17.8 points per contest in his third year with the program. In some better news, the team is optimistic that Huff will be able to return this season. Jalen Warley is the likeliest candidate to replace Huff in the starting five while Ismaila Diagne is in line for some additional minutes as well.
