Impact Hinson struggled a bit from beyond the arc and only made 33 percent of his long-range attempts, but he more than made up for it by opening the season with a strong double-double. The Panthers are coming off a couple of disappointing years, but Hinson might very well operate as the team's go-to player on offense considering how involved he was in this win.

In two exhibition games, the 6-7 forward has combined to score 49 points and is shooting a remarkable 60 percent from three and 64 percent from the floor. Hinson has not taken the floor in two seasons, but early signs are indicating that he could be a go-to scorer for head coach Jeff Capel. Hinson will hope to keep up his hot hand in Monday's opener against UT-Martin.

After a failed stint with Iowa State, Hinson landed at Pitt and has been receiving steady praise as one of the biggest standouts in practice. He not only appears to be a leading candidate for a starting role, but the green light to shoot is on, even from the perimeter.

Impact Hinson was a tremendous small-ball power forward back with Ole Miss in 2019-20 where he averaged 10.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest. He ended up transferring to Iowa State, but did not end up every playing for the Cyclones in either of the last two seasons due to a medical condition caused by COVID-19. Hinson is now fully healthy and should be a big piece for the Panthers in 2022-23.

Out at Iowa State Iowa State head coach T.J. Otzelberger announced Saturday that Hinson has quit the team, Michael Swain of 247Sports.com reports.

Impact Hinson was set to debut for the Cyclones in 2021-22 after transferring over from Mississippi ahead of the 2020-21 campaign. It's unclear if the redshirt junior will look to continue his career elsewhere this season or at a later time.
