Impact BYU's team is already down big, and it will be down bigger without its main big. If the Cougars pull a comeback win, they will move on to face the winner of TCU-Houston on Friday. Otherwise, Khalifa can have a few more days to recover before March Madness.

Impact Khalifa drained a season-high four threes en-route to a 14 point effort that represented his highest total since posting 21 on Jan. 20 at Texas Tech and just the third time he's posted double-figures this season. Additionally, the seven assists was one short of a season-high while the seven boards were just two shy of his previous high total. It was the first time the versatile big man has posted double-digits in scoring with at least seven assists and rebounds in the same game in his career. While averaging just 6.3 points this season, he's averaging 4.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists, with the latter representing the highest total amongst all non-guards in the Big 12.

Impact Khalifa's return after two missed games due to an illness moved Fousseyni Traore back to the bench. The two split time evenly, each playing 20 minutes and while Traore maintained his run of great play, Khalifa didn't miss a beat, contributing a couple of threes on his way to eight points while adding six assists. Khalifa is one of the best passing big men in the country, ranking second on BYU in assists and 11th in the Big 12 conference, one of just two non-guards in the conference (KJ Adams) to average more than 3 assists per game. Impact For the second time in three games, Khalifa contributed a surprising offensive outburst in posting a new season-high in points. Khalifa is certainly capable--he posted five 20-point outings last year at Charlotte--but that hasn't been his role prior to his recent efforts. Also of note is the uptick in playing time, averaging 27.3 minutes over the last three games. Khalifa has served as a quality ball distributor this year, averaging a career-high 4.1 assists which ranks second on the team. But this scoring outburst on a team that already features six players averaging 9-plus per outing is a welcome sign for BYU and shows the depth they can throw at teams each game. Khalifa is averaging 5.9 points and 4.4 rebounds over 20.1 minutes per game but has lifted that total to 13.3 points and 6.7 rebounds since his court time has risen over the last three.
