Impact While Akok appears to be coming along well in his recovery from February surgery to repair a ruptured left Achilles' tendon, the sophomore big man doesn't look like he'll be ready to go for the start of the 2020-21 campaign. Instead, Connecticut is likely targeting the middle portion of its Big East schedule for Akok to make his season debut. Akok was a regular starter for the Huskies as a redshirt freshman last season, but Hurley may prefer to reintegrate Akok as a bench player once he's deemed ready to play.

Showing good progress Akok (achilles) has looked good in practice according to coach Dan Hurley, David Borges of Hearst Connecticut Media reports.

Impact Akok suffered a ruptured achilles back in February. Coach Dan Hurley said in the Spring he thought a realistic goal was getting Akok back in the lineup during the Big East portion of the schedule. According to this report, Akok has been running in practice and even tried a 360 dunk. The 6-9 forward may be back sooner than initially expected, but he will likely play on a minutes restriction for awhile.
