Misses game due to illness
Arop did not play Saturday against Colorado State due to a stomach problem, Kyle Betz of the Daily Aztec reports.
Impact
The Aztecs seem to have simply been exercising caution, though they potentially missed the wing depth Arop provides, falling to the Rams by three points. Arop's next chance to take the court also represents a chance to avenge that loss, with the Aztecs set to host the Rams in a rematch Monday.

Scores 10 points in season debut
Arop recorded 10 points (4-9 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT) while adding four rebounds and an assist in 23 minutes during Wednesday's 73-58 win over UCLA.
Impact
Arop was a regular bench presence for the Aztecs in his first two seasons with the program but made the start in the season opener and was productive, scoring in double-digit points just for the third time in his career. He is expected to remain in the starting lineup for Friday's game against UC Irvine.

Challenging for starting job
According to head coach Brian Ducher, Arop (shoulder) is competing for a spot in the team's starting five for 2020-21, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact
Arop has supplied double-digit minutes off the bench each of the last two seasons but is looking to make his way into the starting lineup for the first time in his career. A pair of starting spots are open following the graduations of KJ Feagin and Yanni Wetzell, so Arop will likely be competing to fill one of those starting jobs. In any event, there was no mention of Arop's offseason shoulder procedure causing any problems, so he seems likely to be in the mix when the season opens Wednesday.
