Tottenham hit by injury blow as Thomas Frank reveals striker has undergone surgery on ankle issue
Solanke sustained ankle injury during pre-season
The Spurs forward picked up the ankle knock during pre-season training and missed the club's UEFA Super Cup clash against Paris Saint-Germain in August. However, he did return for his team's first two Premier League games against Burnley and City, albeit as a late substitute.
Frank confirms Solanke undergoes surgery
Solanke briefly returned to training earlier this month, but Frank has now confirmed that the striker underwent surgery to find a permanent solution to his ankle issue. The Spurs boss told reporters: "Dom we know got that ankle issue that's been bothering him for a little while. Decided to have minor surgery. Small procedure. More news about time frame after the international break."
Spurs' injury crisis worsens
Solanke became the latest first-team Spurs star to get sidelined with an injury. Radu Dragusin and Dejan Kulusevski have remained injured since last season, while star midfielder James Maddison tore his anterior cruciate ligament during a pre-season game in August.
Tottenham look to continue good form in Europe
Under new boss Frank, Spurs have lost just one match in the 2025-26 campaign, which came against Bournemouth last month in the Premier League. They are unbeaten in their last five matches across all competitions and will aim to extend that streak when they face Bodo/Glimt in a Champions League clash on Tuesday.
