Jack Grealish received England explanation from Thomas Tuchel - Everton loanee admits to chat with Three Lions boss
Grealish, Bellingham out of Tuchel's squad
Tuchel announced a 24-member England squad last Friday for their upcoming international games against Wales and Latvia. While players like Marcus Rashford, Eberechi Eze and Anthony Gordon made the cut, Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham and City loanee Grealish's names were glaringly missing.
Tuchel faced criticism for leaving out in-form stars
England fans were left fuming after the Three Lions' squad announcement as several big names, like Bellingham, Grealish, Phil Foden and Adam Wharton were overlooked while veteran midfielder Jordan Henderson made it into Tuchel's squad.
Grealish had a chat with Tuchel
Speaking to Sky Sports after Everton's clash against Crystal Palace on Sunday, Grealish said: "First of all, you want to play well for your club, because that’s what we do every week. But, obviously, you want to be in the England squad. But I do understand it. I spoke to the manager there, and I understand that there’s a lot of competition, especially in that left-wing spot at the moment.
"Rashy’s [Marcus Rashford] flying, Eze, Anthony Gordon, you know, everyone’s doing so well. I can’t really complain, it is what it is. Hopefully, I can just keep performing and keep influencing games."
Grealish scores Everton's winner against Palace
Everton came back from behind to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at home in a crucial Premier League fixture. After Daniel Munoz handed Palace the lead in the first half, Iliman Ndiaye brought the Toffees back into the game before Grealish scored a 93rd-minute winner. The winger now has two goals and four assists from his first 10 matches for Everton.
