Nashville Race Distance Reduced to 225 Laps Due to Record Heat Forecast

The race distance has been reduced from 300 to 225 laps for the rescheduled Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix presented by OnlyBulls on Monday, July 20 at Nashville Superspeedway due to a forecast of record temperatures and a heat index over 100 degrees, INDYCAR officials announced Sunday evening.

All other procedures for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES race remain unchanged, including the rule mandating each team uses at least one set of primary Firestone Firehawk tires and two sets of alternate tires in the race.

A downpour swept through Middle Tennessee on Sunday evening, ending track drying from earlier storms and forcing the postponement of the race to 3 p.m. ET Monday. FOX, FOX One and INDYCAR Radio powered by OnlyBulls will broadcast the race live, with Kyle Kirkwood of Andretti Global leading the 25-car field to the green flag in the No. 27 Sam’s Club Honda.

The NTT INDYCAR SERIES race was run at the 225-lap distance last year on the 1.33-mile concrete oval.
