BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Ryder Burton threw a 43-yard touchdown to EJ Reid with 9:34 left and UAB held on to beat Louisiana Monroe 26-20 on Saturday.

Reid got past the Warhawks' secondary and made the uncontested catch which put the American Conference Blazers ahead of Louisiana Monroe of the Sun Belt Conference, 23-20.

On Louisiana Monroe's ensuing drive, UAB's Ike Esonwune intercepted Austin Carlisle. The Blazers used an 11-play, 41-yard drive over nearly five minutes which produced a 42-yard field goal by Jonah Delange with 1:10 remaining.

Louisiana Monroe ran off eight plays and managed just 29 yards before turning the ball over on downs. UAB took a knee to end it.

The Warhawks built an early 14-3 lead on a 1-yard touchdown run by CJ Phillips and a 7-yard scoring run by Carlisle wrapped around a 41-yard field goal by UAB's Delange. Louisiana Monroe led 17-10 at halftime.
