Speer has 20, Marshall beats Toledo 85-73

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Jalen Speer's 20 points helped Marshall defeat Toledo 85-73 on Saturday.

Speer added five assists and three steals for the Thundering Herd (2-0). Wyatt Fricks scored 15 points and added seven rebounds. Matt Van Komen had 14 points and shot 7 of 7 from the field.

Sean Craig led the Rockets (0-2) in scoring, finishing with 16 points and seven rebounds. Sonny Wilson added 16 points and four assists for Toledo. Leroy Blyden Jr. finished with 10 points, four assists and two steals.

Van Komen scored 10 points in the first half and Marshall went into the break trailing 40-30. Speer scored 17 points down the stretch in the second half to help lead Marshall to a 12-point victory.
