McComb scores 23, Norfolk State takes down Delaware State 66-64
DOVER, Del. (AP) — Anthony McComb III's 23 points helped Norfolk State defeat Delaware State 66-64 on Saturday.
Adrean Newton's layup with nine seconds remaining gave the Spartans a 66-64 lead and they outscored Delaware State 8-2 over the final 2 minutes.
McComb shot 7 of 8 from the field, including 3 for 4 from 3-point range, and went 6 for 8 from the line for the Spartans (7-11, 1-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Keyontae Lewis scored 18 points and added five rebounds. Elijah Jamison had 16 points and shot 6 of 9 from the field and 4 for 5 from the line.
The Hornets (5-12, 0-2) were led in scoring by Ponce James, who finished with 22 points, five assists and four steals. Corey Perkins added 12 points, four assists and four steals for Delaware State. Camian Shell finished with 11 points.
