Clayton scores 23 as Iona knocks off Manhattan 71-60
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) — Walter Clayton Jr. had 23 points in Iona's 71-60 win over Manhattan on Friday night.
Clayton also had five assists and three steals for the Gaels (19-7, 12-3 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Nelly Junior Joseph scored 12 points and added 17 rebounds. Osborn Shema recorded 10 points and finished 5 of 9 from the floor. The Gaels picked up their sixth straight win.
The Jaspers (9-15, 7-8) were led in scoring by Josh Roberts, who finished with 14 points, 18 rebounds and two steals. Anthony Nelson added 14 points and five assists for Manhattan. Samir Stewart also had 12 points.
NEXT UP
Both teams play again on Sunday. Iona visits Saint Peter's and Manhattan travels to play Fairfield.
