Acker scores 23 as Long Island University knocks off Stonehill 73-68

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. (AP) — Eric Acker had 23 points to lead Long Island University to a 73-68 victory over Stonehill on Saturday.

Acker shot 9 for 20, including 4 for 11 from beyond the arc for the Sharks (3-11, 2-0 Northeast Conference). Tai Strickland scored 20 points and added five rebounds and three steals. Ahmed Essahaty was 3 of 11 shooting, including 2 for 4 from 3-point range, and went 4 for 4 from the line to finish with 12 points.

The Skyhawks (2-15, 0-2) were led by Max Zegarowski, who posted 18 points and two steals. Chas Stinson added 13 points and two steals for Stonehill. In addition, Tony Felder had 12 points.
