Signs hardship deal with Sky The Sky signed Poffenbarger to a hardship contract Wednesday, per Mitchell Hansen of CanisHoopus.com.

Impact Chicago had been set to work with just nine active players for Wednesday's game against Toronto, but now it will have 10 available bodies. Poffenbarger, who went unchosen in this year's WNBA Draft, will help provide some short-term reinforcements to the Sky's backcourt.

Impact Although Poffenbarger came off the bench during Monday's preseason matchup, she led the Lynx in playing time and blocks while also seeing plenty of shot volume. Poffenbarger went undrafted out of Maryland this spring, and her workload early in the preseason has been encouraging, as she also logged nine points (3-6 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 13 rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block in 26 minutes off the bench during Saturday's exhibition win over Washington. It's not yet clear whether she'll make Minnesota's Opening Night roster, but she's had plenty of opportunities to showcase her skill set.
