Not starting Sunday Shepard isn't starting Sunday's game against the Sparks, Mitchell Hansen of CanisHoopus.com reports.

Impact Shepard drew the start in Friday's regular-season opener since Alanna Smith (quadriceps) was unavailable. However, Shepard will retreat to the bench Sunday since Smith will make her season debut against Los Angeles. Smith will have an undisclosed minutes restriction Sunday, so Shepard should still see decent run despite her reserve role.

Starts in regular-season opener Shepard provided 15 points (5-7 FG, 5-8 FT), eight rebounds, three assists and one steal over 29 minutes during Friday's 99-84 victory over the Wings.

Impact With Kayla McBride (personal) and Alanna Smith (quadriceps) unavailable, Shepard and Karlie Samuelson drew starts on Opening Night, surrounded by usual starters Napheesa Collier, Bridget Carleton and Courtney Williams. Shepard finished third in scoring behind Collier and Williams while grabbing a team-high eight boards. McBride and Smith are considered day-to-day, but Shepard should still have a solid reserve role even when the Lynx are at full strength.
