Anisimova lost 6-2, 7-6 (1) to Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open on Tuesday.
Impact
Anisimova couldn't locate her groundstrokes in this quarterfinal loss as she was sent home in straight sets by her No. 6-ranked countrywoman after one hour and 35 minutes on court. The 24-year-old American finished with 18 winners compared to a whopping 44 unforced errors in the losing effort. On the bright side, Anisimova has now reached at least the quarterfinals in each of her last three major showings.
