WWE suspends Roman Reigns for violating the wellness policy

BY foxsports • June 21, 2016

Former WWE champion Roman Reigns (Joe Anoa`i) will be sitting on the sidelines for the next 30 days after he was suspended for the WWE called a violation of the company's talent wellness policy.

WWE announced the news on Tuesday.

After news of the suspension was released, Reigns took to his Twitter account and accepted responsibility for his actions: "No excuses. I own it."

Reigns just dropped the WWE heavyweight title at the Money in the Bank card in Las Vegas on Sunday night .

The interesting twist to this suspension is that Reigns was just slated for a main event slot at the WWE's next major event, titled "Battleground" in a triple threat match alongside new champion Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.

WWE Battleground takes place on July 24 from Washington D.C. Reigns' suspension will only last 30 days, so it's not expected to run into that card —unless WWE officials opt to pull him from the match at this time.

Reigns will be suspended during the July 19 draft when the WWE splits the roster between RAW and Smackdown, which is going live on Tuesday nights starting with that show.

As of now, there's no word from WWE whether or not Reigns will be drafted during that time and just not show up on television that week or if he will be passed along to RAW or Smackdown after his suspension is lifted.

Either way, Reigns will be out of action for the next month.
