WWE Rumors: Becky Lynch vs. Alexa Bliss Canceled for No Mercy

Becky Lynch vs. Alexa Bliss may be off for the WWE No Mercy pay-per-view.
Becky Lynch vs. Alexa Bliss had been planned for the WWE No Mercy pay-per-view. The SmackDown Women’s Championship was also set to be one of the marquee matches of the evening. However, it seems this has reportedly been called off.
According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline, Lynch cannot wrestle due to an undisclosed injury, so her match with Bliss is reportedly off No Mercy. There hasn’t been confirmation from WWE yet.
This marks the second consecutive SmackDown show that a match has been called off due to injury. Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt had been set for Backlash, but got canceled when The Viper didn’t get cleared from a concussion he suffered.
Lynch getting injured before her first title defense is discouraging. She had been set for her first title defense in what would have been potentially one of the matches of the evening. It’s also her first time with a title in WWE. If this injury is both true and severe, could the belt be striped?
This leaves six matches for No Mercy. Baron Corbin vs. Jack Swagger had been set for the pre-show, but seeing to moved to the main program wouldn’t be surprising. It would fill the available time that Lynch and Bliss would have had.
It’s always possible that there’s a replacement, though. Bliss could still wrestle, but maybe with others involved like Naomi and Natalya. Eva Marie’s suspension ended a while ago too, so maybe this is a chance to bring her back.
We’ll see what Becky Lynch’s injury is and the extent of it. The best case would be that it limits her for a few weeks, but allows her to keep the women’s title. If not, we could be in for another title strip.
