WWE No Mercy 2016: 3 Reasons Dean Ambrose Should Win
Dean Ambrose is looking to become a two-time WWE World Champion at WWE No Mercy 2016. Here are three reasons he should win against John Cena and AJ Styles.
Many of us can agree that Dean Ambrose hasn’t had the most successful run as the WWE World Champion. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve to hold the title again. In fact, there are a few good reasons why Ambrose should defeat both AJ Styles and John Cena at No Mercy on Oct. 9.
Sure, AJ Styles is someone who will likely be given a lengthy run as the new “face that runs the place.” It’s catchy and the WWE feels he’s able to carry the blue brand during the new generation of WWE. However, the Lunatic Fringe is partially responsible for the new generation having started.
Remember, Ambrose is someone who came into the WWE after a very unique background in the independent circuit of professional wrestling. He was one of the darlings of the WWE Universe, which eventually led to him being slowly built up with matches against Triple H and Brock Lesnar.
But Styles doesn’t necessarily depend on winning the WWE World Championship on Oct. 9. Neither will Cena’s career be marked if he doesn’t win his 16th world championship. In all honestly, several decorated wrestling legends never came this close to breaking Ric Flair’s record and they all did well overall.
This is a match that is almost a must-win for Ambrose and the following are the three main reasons why he should win the WWE World Championship at No Mercy.

1. Allows for Ambrose-Styles III
The rematch for the WWE World Championship had the type of ending that would warrant a return to the feud. It was a good main event for television where the heel was able to take advantage of the distraction to retain his championship. These two had a decent match at Backlash last month.
This provided AJ Styles with the feel-good moment for fans who have followed him for a long time. But Ambrose, who has a cult following of his own, is also someone who has fought long and hard to be in the main event picture. A loss at No Mercy would likely send him down to the mid-card again. It’s better to at least have a third match between the two at Survivor Series in November.
A third bout between the two would be the rubber match where they can have a special stipulation for the WWE World Championship. Maybe a steel cage match. Or possibly a Last Man Standing match.
Give Ambrose somewhat of an advantage to help boost Styles’ when he eventually wins back the title. But if Ambrose doesn’t win at No Mercy, his stock would have taken enough of a hit to make a third match hard to justify.

2. Ambrose Needs Title for Short-Term Future
This might seem like an interesting point. Dean Ambrose isn’t necessarily the type of character that has to hold a major championship to be successful. Things were fine overall for someone like “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and Brian Pillman. So why does Ambrose have to win the WWE World Championship at No Mercy?
The question would be what the WWE would have planned for Ambrose beyond the championship feud. It’s not like you can have him go into a feud with Bray Wyatt. It was something they did and had very little success. It didn’t help Wyatt’s stock and Ambrose looked like a fool with the exploding television.
Styles is likely going to have a lengthy reign as the WWE World Champion, but it would be best to build up to a potential heel turn by Ambrose. It would then transition into a feud with John Cena, who has cost him the championship once already.
Ambrose winning the title and then losing it again in a month or two would then continue to build up the anger and dissension Ambrose has for someone like Cena. However, the main problem how a loss at No Mercy would limit the short-term feud options for Ambrose since Cena is likely going to challenge Styles if the WWE World Champion retains.

3. A Neutral Champion is Better Than a Face/Heel
When a world champion is either a face or a heel, they are very limited in the types of superstars they are booked against. Very few times will the WWE have two heels or two faces go against each other in a match for a major championship. It becomes a little more difficult after the WWE roster was split between the two separate shows.
Having a wrestler who fell in between the lines of face and heel would be the best option for the WWE World Championship. Dean Ambrose is better suited for that kind of role. Because of his temperament and attitude, he would be the perfect type of champion that wrestles everyone.
Some might think its inconsistent booking, but it’s actually the best way to preserve a championship reign for a longer period of time. This type of booking would allow Ambrose to move from main event feuds with John Cena one month and then with AJ Styles another month.
Ambrose could then battle with heels like Bray Wyatt and The Miz. But also give mid-carders like Kalisto and Jack Swagger an opportunity for filler feuds. It provides more opportunities for someone like Amrbose who is still worth investing time into as the WWE World Champion.
