WWE Backlash comes to us live tonight from the Richmond Coliseum in RIchmond, VA, and SmackDown’s first brand-specific pay-per-view has several big matches on the card. Not only will the WWE World Championship be on the line, but SmackDown will crown its first Tag Team and Women’s champions as well.
The main event features Dean Ambrose defending the WWE World Championship against AJ Styles. To many this is another dream match, featuring two of the WWE’s hottest stars. Will Ambrose’s first title run come to an end at the hands of, arguably, the best wrestler in the world today?
In another historic first, a six-pack challenge match between Alexa Bliss, Becky Lynch, Nikki Bella, Carmella, Naomi and Natalya will crown the inaugural SmackDown Women’s Champion. Over the past weeks, each woman has made a case as to why that honor should go to her, so it’ll be interesting to see who comes out on top.
SmackDown will also crown its first-ever Tag Team Champions when the unlikely duo of Heath Slater and Rhyno takes on the winner of The Usos vs. The Hype Bros—another match scheduled for WWE Backlash. Which team will earn the right to be SmackDown’s Tag Team Champions?
Other matches include Dolph Ziggler challenging the Miz for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, as well as the Viper Randy Orton facing off against the Eater of Worlds Bray Wyatt in an exhibition contest.
