Will Decay or Delete surpass the Final Deletion and the Grand Championship Reveal?

Thursday’s TNA Impact Wrestling was headlined by Decay or Delete.  Throughout the night, this was built up with various scenes.  Some featured the Hardys while the others featured the Decay.  The Hardy trained for the battle in many unorthodox ways while the Decay’s journey to the Hardy compound was documented.

Mike Bennett opens the show but his night would not end the way he wanted.  A Dixie Carter appearance produced a somewhat new signing.  This signee would be booked in a match with Mike Bennett for the pay-per-view special in three weeks.  The Bennett family’s involvement is not done as Maria hears her fate for Bound for Glory which will be decided next week.

The miscommunication between Allie and Sienna evolved tonight and has many people predicting an upcoming match between the two.  Sienna continues to belittle the former Knockout’s Champion and she must be close to her breaking point.

The Impact Wrestling Grand Championship was revealed tonight and shined a different light on professional wrestling.  It created a new stipulation for competitors to endure.  The championship match have timed rounds and judges to decide if the matches go the distance.  The first round started tonight with two match.  Drew Galloway went to war against Braxton Sutter and Eli Drake looked to make his mark against Jessie Godderz.

The night ended with Decay or Delete, a spectacle to be seen rather than heard.  After the success of the Final Deletion, TNA is trying to find lightning in a bottle once again.  Coming up is your review of TNA Impact Wrestling for September 8.

The Set Up of Delete or Decay

As the show begins, Senor Benjamin is reading the disclaimer that he announced before the Final Deletion weeks prior.  A short video review of the infiltration by Rosemary last week is shown as the Matt Hardy is shown.   Broken Matt Hardy is getting his troops ready for Decay or Delete tonight at the Hardy Compound.  Senor Benjamin is shown digging graves with Hardy symbols as the tombstones and the Decay written on them.  The scene is set with the obsolete them song playing over it.

Moose Tries for Retribution

Mike Bennett makes his way to the ring to reveal that he has fired Moose.  He is visibly upset because Moose cost him the World Title last week against Lashley.  He calls Moose a big dumb idiot and says that no one can hold him back now.  Dixie Carter comes to the ring stating that she has a surprise for Mike Bennett.  As Bennett thinks that he is being put into the BFG main event, he is clued in on a resigning.  Moose’s music hits and it is revealed that Mike Bennett and he would face off at Bound for Glory.

Moose tries to get his hands on Bennett after the firing text he received earlier in the week.

Bennett tries to get out of his match with Moose at Bound for Glory but Dixie isn’t budging on it.  Carter is upset about how Maria won the Knockout’s Championship last week and sets up a number one contender’s match for next week.  This also nullifies Maria’s position as the leader of the Knockout’s division.

Sienna and Allie vs Gail Kim and Jade

Result: Kim and Jade win via pinfall

A match that was used to showcased the Knockout’s and get Gail Kim back in the ring.  It seems like these women will be some of those in the match next week.  This is set up to be a great opening contest as the psychology between Sienna and Allie continues.

Sienna begins her dominating ways by not only bullying Allie but throwing Gail Kim around the ring.  The crowd chants “We want Allie” but Sienna won’t let Allie into the match.  She continues to use her power to control Gail Kim.  Sienna has been booked to perfection as a dominant heel in the Knockout’s division.  As Jade starts to take control, Allie enters the ring causing miscommunication.  Sienna was highly upset about Allie’s involvement and takes her out with the Silencer.  This allows Jade and Gail Kim to get the momentum and continues the downward spiral of Allie over the past few weeks.

This was a pretty good match and seemed like it was more to continue the dissension between Allie and Sienna.  If I was a betting man, I would predict that they end up running into each other next week and face off at Bound for Glory.

Delete or Decay Continues its Set Up

Jeremy Borash is backstage with Billy Corgan and teasing his huge announcement but JB wants the inside scoop before he goes to the ring.  Corgan claims that this announcement will change the wrestling business forever.

Matt Hardy continues to prepare his family for the battle against Decay.  Hardy goes to talk to what looks like a giraffe but he claims that it is George Washington.  Also, Hardy has arranged a sparring match with Jeff Hardy and Joe Fraiser (a kangaroo).  Broken Matt has also brought together the X-Division as climbing monkeys considering they are seen as spot monkeys.  This was to help Jeff Hardy stop jumping from high areas.

Billy Corgan Changes the Wrestling Business

Bill Corgan is in the ring to announce that he has retired the King of the Mountain Championship.  The Impact Wrestling Grand Championship will replace it and as he looks to lay down the rules, Drew Galloway comes to the ring.  Galloway, still hungry for gold, has his eyes on the Impact Grand Championship and explains why he is in the ring.

Galloway runs down his history in the wrestling business and says that he is the only choice to be champion.  Corgan introduces his new type of match with three round that are three minutes each.  The judges decided the winner if it goes the distance.  Galloway continues to praise himself as he calls himself the wrestling business.  This triggers Aron Rex to come out and challenge Galloway.  Corgan diffuses the situation by announcing that Rex will make his debut in the tournament.  This also lead to Galloway having an opening round match next.

Drew Galloway vs Braxton Sutter

Result: Galloway wins via submission

The first match in the tournament was must see just to see how this new stipulation would go.   The match is judge on aggression, physicality, and control.   Galloway is in control early by emphasizing all judging credentials. He goes into ground and pound to end the round and wins the first round with a 10 to 9 sweep.

Galloway continues to throw Sutter around in the second round.  Sutter looking to gain the advantage with a superplex that certainly earned his points in the round.  As the round approaches its end, Sutter goes into a ground and pound style.  Sutter wins the second round by split decision and the rounds are tied at one.

Drew Galloway comes in the second round aggressively but it allows Sutter to reverse.  Galloway sensing that he was in trouble locks in the Iron Maiden to win the first Grand Championship tournament match.

Rockstar Spud Seeks Revenge

As the show returns from commercial, Rockstar Spud is shown beating down Braxton Sutter after his loss to Galloway.  He uses the exposed turnbuckle to kick Sutter teeth out of his mouth getting revenge after Sutter delivered a hard kick to him.

A man is shown coming home from the liquor store and he sees Rosemary making her way to Cameron.  The guy tries to pick up Rosemary but is surrounded by the Decay and left laying.

World Championship Press Conference

This match is promoted as a main event that will be looked back on for years to come.  EC3 talks down on Lashley about how he has tarnished divisions.  They both thrown in jabs at each other making this somewhat comical at times.

Lashley mentions that other sports and wrestling promotions have been coming after TNA.  He claims to be the man that can take on all of those organizations by representing this company.  EC3 proclaims that he isn’t like the men that Lashley has faced in the past.  The World Champion talks of being better than he ever has been at Bound for Glory.

The press conference ends in a melee after EC3 disrespected Lashley.  Both men continue to brawl throughout the break and Lashley once again comes out as dominant.  He continues to talk junk to EC3 and throws him out of the building.  Lashley leaves Carter laying with ambulance doors open.

Jesse Godderz vs Eli Drake

Result: Drake wins via pinfall

This was another first round match of the Impact Grand Championship Tournament.  This was based less on strikes and more on grounding your opponent.  Both Godderz and Drake looked to keep their opponent down for quick pins.  As Jessie is in control, the round ends and he wins the first round by split decision.

The match continues its technical fashion but Drake sensing that he is in trouble starts to incorporate strikes.  Drake remains in control but the showmanship of Drake allowed Godderz to fight back into the match.  He ends the round with the Adonis crab for the last 10 seconds of the second round.  Godderz wins the second round again by split decision.

Godderz continues his control with power and another Adonis crab attempt that almost ended it.  The aggressiveness of Drake got the best of him as Drake uses the ropes to his advantage.  Drake barely wins the match with Blood Forced Trauma and moves to the next round by pinfall.

Decay or Delete

The Decay enter the Hardy compound to find Senor Benjamin digging their graves.  As they continue to seek the Hardys, they seen that Maxel has seen them.  Shortly, after they see Matt Hardy who says, “Decay, I knew you’d come.”  The Hardys start with fireworks which are not beautiful causing the Decay to retreat.

Hardy send Reby to protect Maxel as the Decay take cover.  As they head to the house, Jeff Hardy is taken out and Joseph Park appears.  He asked if Benjamin had seen Abyss and gets tased for his efforts.  Meanwhile, Crazy Steve and Jeff Hardy began to brawl and Hardy suplexes Steve into the water.  After choking out Steve, Hardy arises for Steve to bring him back into the water.

Matt Hardy is searching for Rosemary and Benjamin continues to dig graves but is attacked by Abyss.  Hardy finds Rosemary but Abyss comes after him with Janice.  Jeff Hardy takes the sacrificial blow with Janice.  The Decay seem to be in firm control but Vanguard One sets fire to their surroundings in a Hardy symbol.

Rosemary has Maxel but Vanguard One comes to his rescue.  Matt Hardy sucks up the mist of Rosemary and dishes it back out more powerfully.  Maxel comes back to Matt as the Hardys seem to have partially defeated Decay.

How will the Decay respond to warfare in Cameron and the Grand Championship Tournament Continues next week?
