Cody Rhodes to Reportedly Join NJPW's Bullet Club Stable

Cody Rhodes will be taking on his latest wrestling venture by joining New Japan Pro Wrestling’s most popular faction.

Cody Rhodes has had a busy schedule since leaving the WWE in May. This has included stops at TNA, EVOLVE, PWG, and most recently Ring of Honor. He wrestled Jay Lethal at their Final Battle pay-per-view, turning heel in the match’s final moments. It set him for a return to the ROH TV taping on the following evening.

Well, it seems Rhodes is going to be making his way into New Japan Pro Wrestling. He’ll be joining their Bullet Club stable, arguably the most popular faction in all of pro wrestling, according to PW Insider. Member Kenny Omega had teased the announcement to come at NJPW’s World Tag League finals on Friday.

This would be the former Intercontinental Champion’s latest stop along his freelancing tour of the wrestling scene. He’s making his way to as many promotions as possible, potentially getting a fair share of compensation for his matches as well. It has also been a transformation for Rhodes from an afterthought on WWE TV (he played the painted up Stardust character), to this independent wrestling sensation. It’s a role he should enjoy for years to come.

The next step for Cody will be getting to use the “Rhodes” name on the indies. WWE still holds the trademark to the “Cody Rhodes” name and haven’t let him use it. This is why he went under the name “Cody” at Final Battle and “Cody R” at other events.

The potential introduction of Cody Rhodes into the Bullet Club should be the group’s latest big moment. They had to regroup after losing top members AJ Styles, Karl Anderson, and Doc Gallows to WWE in the beginning of 2016. This resulted in former ROH World Champion Adam Cole and Adam “Hangman” Page taking their spots this past summer. We’ll see how it all goes down at the World Tag League event this week.
