3 Ways WWE Could Use TNA's Video Library on the WWE Network
What could Vince McMahon do with TNA’s video library on the WWE Network?
Reports about the possible sale of TNA have now been turned to rumors that Vince McMahon is to purchase TNA’s library for WWE. It is also rumored that Billy Corgan will take majority ownership of the failing wrestling promotion. Corgan has made it clear that he plans to rebrand the promotion if this were to happen. This would prove to be the best option for all parties involved. The company will have a fresh start along with all of the wrestler’s currently contracted by the promotion.
This option also presents Vince with almost 15 years of TNA’s wrestling footage, which could be used on WWE Network. The idea that TNA could rebrand just makes WWE’s options to use the footage even more promising. Vince could possibly reinvent TNA as his own on WWE Network, much like what has been done with WCW. Considering that the brand would no longer exist, it is possible that Vince could own not only the footage. He could hypothetically, also end up owning the entire old brand.
Endless possibilities are flying around with all of the options and unanswered questions that still remain unresolved of what could happen. So, it’s no wonder that you might have speculated on what the mega promotion will do with the video library if Vince gets it.
It is still unclear if Vince will obtain this treasure, but here are three ways Vince could use TNA’s video library on WWE Network if it does happen.
3. Pre-Made Documentaries
Vince buying TNA’s video library gives the WWE the obvious option of using it to make better documentaries of Superstar’s who recently came from Impact. Not that production wouldn’t have made them eventually anyway, but it would have been like starting with a brand new superstar.
This is especially the case with stars like AJ Styles and Bobby Roode, who spent years under the same branded promotion. All they would have is clips from what? Not even a full year? Maybe some old home video footage?
This creates the opportunity of WWE Network having control over all of the wrestlers who came from Impact to WWE. Some of these wrestlers have built their entire careers in TNA. AJ Styles was there basically from the start of the promotion.
This would mean that Vince would have access to all past tapings of the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion from his 11 years with TNA. This includes his documentaries!
AJ Styles was one of Impact’s biggest stars, so… he has several.
2. Footage of Past & Present Superstars
If Vince got his hands on TNA’s library, it would grant him access to footage of both past and present Superstar’s. In other words… If he wanted to add to older documentaries of past Superstar’s who are now on Impact or whatever brand it might become, he would have it!
Basically, Vince could potentially add to Matt and Jeff Hardy’s collections on WWE Network. Or anybody else who left WWE and popped up on the dying promotions roster. This would include the newest storyline that the brothers have been working on recently. It has even been rumored that WWE was attempting to resign Matt specifically because he was the mastermind behind his “Broken” persona.
TNA’s footage also includes legends such as Sting, Ric Flair, and Booker T. There are so many options of what WWE Network would look like with all of the footage that could be edited into previously seen content.
1. TNA Brand on WWE Network
Another huge possibility would be that a TNA brand could potentially pop up on WWE Network. This could give fans of both promotions access to all of Impact’s past video tapings and PPV’s! This is one option where Corgan’s plan to rebrand the promotion would work more in Vince’s favor.
It is unclear if Vince owning the past tapings would grant him the access to use the brand, but it seems more likely if it were to be renamed. There would no longer be any reason for Corgan to be upset over a brand that is now renamed and for which he has no prior tapings of. Again this is if he were to buy the majority share and rebrand.
This would also turn over more profit for Vince, who would most likely gain a slew of fans that preferred TNA over WWE. It would also be a major benefit to TNA fans, who could no longer tune in to Impact because of the ongoing issues with programming and channel changes. Does anyone really have Pop on their channel lineup?
All of these are possible, considering they all could mean a truckload of money for WWE Network, but for fans, it would be monumental! Vince however, is in the habit of doing the exact opposite of what fans want.
