No. 12 Northwestern women hold off Loyola of Chicago 81-72

CHICAGO (AP) Christen Inman scored 25 points, including six in a 10-0 surge in the fourth quarter, to lift No. 12 Northwestern to an 81-72 win over Loyola of Chicago on Sunday.

The Ramblers (2-6) gave the Wildcats (9-0) a battle, leading 34-30 at the half in a game that had nine ties and 11 lead changes.

Dakota Vann tied the game at 59 with 7:43 left but Inman answered with a 3-pointer. Loyola missed its next three shots and Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah made a pair of free throws, Inman drilled a 3 and Jordan Hankins hit a jumper for a 69-59 lead with 5:43 left.

Northwestern, which won the crosstown matchup 70-33 last year, hit 13 of 15 free throws in the fourth quarter to hold on.

Taylor Manuel had 20 for the Ramblers, who shot 53 percent after going 15 of 25 in the second half.
