Marquette coach Terri Mitchell has left the Golden Eagles game against No. 6 West Virginia after she was hit in the head by a loose ball and collapsed into her bench.
Mitchell appeared to be looking away from the play when the loose ball hit her. She fell backward immediately into the bench where several of her assistant coaches caught her.
After a delay of several minutes as her staff attended to her, assistant coach Cara Consuegra took over the coaching role. Mitchell stayed on the bench while play continued, blinking repeatedly and appearing to have trouble focusing until the next media timeout, when she left the court slowly, but under her own power.
A school spokeswoman says Mitchell was having trouble with dizziness.
