UFC Fight Night 104 results: Felice Herrig defeats Grasso via unanimous decision

The co-main event of UFC Fight Night 104 featured two exciting strawweights,  No. 12 Alexa Grasso vs. Felice Herrig.

On the eve of the biggest night in sports, the UFC has decided to come to Houston, Texas to put on a great night of free fights. UFC Fight Night 104 featured many exciting fights on the preliminary card as well as the main card. The co-main event of this card was no different, featuring a great matchup between two rising strawweight fighters.  The veteran Felice Herrig took on the up and coming No.12 Alexa Grasso.

Grasso is undefeated coming into this fight.  This is just her second fight in the UFC after a very impressive run in Invicta FC.  Herrig is coming into this fight following her win over another newcomer Kailin Curran. Both of these fighters are looking to make the most of a co-main event opportunity and move up in the rankings.

Round One

The first round begins with both ladies coming out to the middle fast.  There is no glove touch as they get right to work.  Grasso does a great job staying just outside the reach of Herrig. They both exchange punches and go back and forth. Grasso attempts a kick which misses and leads to a slip. Herrig follows Grasso to the ground and gets caught in a leg lock. Herrig gets free and back to the feet. Leg kicks by Grasso and good punches by Herrig end the round.

Round Two

They both come out swinging to start round two.  Herrig lands a big overhand right.  Grasso attempts a spinning back kick but is unable to land it. Herrig is able to get inside on Grasso. Herrig closes the distance and lands big shots until the end of the round. In the last few seconds of round two Herrig lands a takedown on Grasso.

Round Three

Grasso comes out looking to land some kicks on Herrig.  Herrig gets the double leg takedown and lands on top of Grasso.  Herrig goes for the back of Grasso but is shaken off and they make it back to the feet.  Grasso is unable to get inside of Herrig, who is dominating with her punches.  In the last 10 seconds of the fight, they both begin to slug it out and Grasso lands some good shots on Herrig, but it is a little too late. The fight goes to the judge’s decision.

The fight is officially scored 29-28, 29-28, and 30-27 for Herrig who wins via unanimous decision.
