Trash talk, near rumble as Jose Aldo, Conor McGregor separated at UFC 194 weigh-ins

Published Dec. 11, 2015 7:33 p.m. ET

Just 24 hours away from UFC 194, Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor weighed in and then nearly went after each other on the stage after making their fight official on Friday.

McGregor hit the scale first at 145 pounds with Aldo following him with the exact same weight. The very pro-Irish crowd chanted in unison as McGregor made his way to the stage, while Aldo felt a venomous response from the fans waiving flags and screaming in his direction.

As soon as Aldo stepped off the scale he stepped towards McGregor and got down into a stance similar to the one the interim featherweight champion did two days ago at the UFC 194 pre-fight press conference.

Aldo kept a smirk on his face while stepping into the face off, and McGregor wasted no time walking toward the featherweight champion as UFC president Dana White quickly stepped in to defuse the rapidly escalating situation.

Aldo actually put his hand on McGregor, which then required a response in kind from the Irish featherweight, who was being pushed back by White as he attempted to keep the situation from turning anymore volatile than it already was.

McGregor feigned that he was going to kick Aldo while they were just a few feet away, but Aldo never flinched in front of a loud and raucous crowd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

"I'm sick of talking about Jose," McGregor said after the fighters were separated. "I visualize and I look at his facial features and I know that the soft part of his face won't be able to take my shots. Tomorrow night, I will bring that gold home for Ireland once again."

While the crowd was obviously heavily in favor of McGregor, Aldo didn't seem to blink after he made the mark for his eighth title defence in the UFC and he even looked like he was enjoying the moment.

After nearly a year of hearing McGregor talk trash, Aldo looks ready to finally let his fists provide a few responses on Saturday night.

"I don't care what he has to say," Aldo said. "The thing is I'm coming in tomorrow night and I'm going to be the champion."

The fight between Aldo and McGregor is expected to be one of the biggest title fights in UFC history and if the weigh-ins were any indication, the anticipation will reach a fevered pitch when these two finally step into the Octagon together Saturday night.
