Gina Carano: The real reason I'm considering a comeback

The money won't be bad, of course. But Gina Carano seems to have other reasons for considering an MMA comeback.

The former Strikeforce star said on "The Late Late Show" with Craig Ferguson that she's never felt at her best going into a bout, mostly because of nerves. Carano said one time before a fight she wasn't able to lift her arms.

"I've never gone into fight actually feeling at my top form," she said. "That's something I really want to experience."

Carano, 31, reiterated what she said last week on "The Arsenio Hall Show," that her returning to the cage -- i.e., coming to an agreement with the UFC -- is in the works. She'll be meeting with UFC president Dana White this week.

"It's kind of being discussed right now," said Carano, who hasn't fought since losing to Cris Cyborg in 2009. "It's something that I always loved to do and it's such a genuine expression for me. I wouldn’t say that unless I was actually thinking about making a comeback possibly."

Carano was on the show promoting her new movie "In the Blood," which opened Friday. She seemed nervous talking with Ferguson, admitting she was uncomfortable. Carano said one of the things she likes about acting is that it takes her out of her comfort zone.

"I think I just have these two different personalities," she said. "I think I might be a little bipolar. I just have this super aggressive side to me and I have this shy side to me. They're going to meet in the middle one day. I can't wait for that to happen."

Maybe it will in the Octagon. A UFC fight against fellow burgeoning Hollywood star Ronda Rousey would likely do big business. And Carano would certainly need to be in "top form" against the women's bantamweight champion.
