Conor McGregor faces possible six-month medical suspension after UFC 202

Published Nov. 15, 2016 2:14 p.m. ET

Conor McGregor put his body through a war on Saturday night to get a win over Nate Diaz, but he may be forced to sit on the sidelines to heal up now that the battle is over.

McGregor arrived on crutches to speak with the media following his majority decision win over Diaz while stating that his shin was banged up after delivering a series of punishing leg kicks during the fight.

Now according to the Nevada State Athletic Commission, McGregor will required an orthopedist clear a left foot/ankle fracture before he's allowed to return to competition or he will be medically suspended until Feb. 17, 2017.

Whether McGregor's foot and ankle are cleared or not, the Irishman will definitely be sitting out until Oct. 20 with no contact until at least Oct. 5.

Obviously if McGregor is cleared by a physician, he'll be allowed to return to action much sooner than Feb. 2017, but the damage done in his last fight could keep him out of any proposed bout on the UFC 205 card in New York on Nov. 12.

As for Diaz, he only suffered a laceration over his eyebrow that will keep him out of action until Sept. 20 with no contact until Sept. 11.

Following a nasty 13-second knockout on Saturday night, Glover Teixeira has been suspended until at least Nov. 19 with no contact until Oct. 20.

The only other lengthy suspensions from UFC 202 included Neil Magny, who must have his left leg x-rayed and if positive an orthopedist must clear him or face a suspension until Feb. 17, 2017 with a minimum suspension until Sept. 20 and no contact until Sept. 11.

Artem Lobov will also need to have his right leg and ankle x-rayed following his win over Chris Avila. An orthopedist must clear him or he's suspended until Feb. 17, 2017 as well.
