Bobby Green out of UFC Fight Night San Diego fight with Al Iaquinta
The upcoming UFC Fight Night card in San Diego will need a new co-main event after No. 11 ranked lightweight Bobby Green suffered an injury that will force him out of his upcoming fight against Al Iaquinta on July 15.
Sources confirmed Green's withdraw from the card to FOX Sports on Wednesday following an initial report from MMAFighting.com.
Green was expected to return to action for the first time since November 2014 when he lost a unanimous decision to Edson Barboza at a UFC Fight Night card in Austin, TX.
Green was also slated to return to action in April after briefly being announced for a fight against Jorge Masvidal, but he was forced out of that matchup due to injury as well.
Details about Green's injury are not available currently, so there's no timeline for how soon the California native might be able to return to action.
As of now, UFC officials have not confirmed Green's removal from the card or a potential replacement to step up to face Iaquinta on July 15.
UFC Fight Night from San Diego airs live on FOX Sports 1 with Frank Mir facing Todd Duffee in the five round heavyweight main event.
