Bobby Green out of UFC 172; UFC switches two lightweight bouts to compensate
With just four more days to go until fight time, UFC 172 has undergone a bit of a makeover in two of the lightweight fights on the card.
Bobby Green suffered an injury in training, forcing him out of his scheduled bout against Jim Miller on the main card this weekend.
So the UFC opted to move Yancy Medeiros into the slot vacated by Green and he will now face veteran competitor Jim Miller on Saturday night. Medeiros was already scheduled to compete on the undercard against newcomer Joe Ellenberger, so that left another opening available.
In steps former UFC competitor Vagner Rocha, who will now face Ellenberger at UFC 172 in a lightweight bout on the undercard.
Rocha returns to the UFC after a previous 1-2 stint with the promotion. Since exiting the Octagon, Rocha has racked up four wins in a row including three by submission.
Now he will face Joe Ellenberger, brother to UFC welterweight contender Jake Ellenberger, on the card this Saturday from Baltimore.
The placement of both fights will remain the same for pay-per-view and the FOX Sports 1 prelims.
