Published Apr. 30, 2011 1:00 a.m. ET

Second-seeded Fernando Verdasco rallied to defeat Kevin Anderson 6-7 (2), 6-2, 6-3 in their rain-delayed Estoril Open quarterfinal on Saturday.

Verdasco trailed a set before play ended Friday but dominated on the clay surface the following day. The 12th-ranked Spanish player never faced a break point. He broke his seventh-seeded South African opponent three times in the final two sets to win.

Verdasco will play either Gilles Simon of France or Milos Raonic of Canada in the semifinals. Their match was suspended at 1-1 in the third set on Saturday because of rain.

Juan Martin del Potro faces Pablo Cuevas in the other semifinal match.
